One song. One year. Far too many opinions.

You know every word. But when did it come out?

One phone sits in the middle of the table. Another starts the music. Your team listens, argues and slips the song into the right spot on its timeline. Or what feels like the right spot.

The chorus comes back. The year usually does not.

One turn, three moves

No twenty-minute rules speech before the music starts.

One player becomes the DJ for a song. Everyone else only needs their ears and a suspicious amount of confidence.

  1. Four hands reach toward a phone displaying a QR code.1

    Scan

The phone on the table shows a QR code. The DJ scans it with their own phone.

  2. One person starts a song while the group listens.2

    Listen

The DJ starts the song. They can see the title, so they sit this guess out.

  3. A hand places a music card onto a timeline.3

    Place

The team puts it before, after or between songs already won. Then the year is revealed.

The heart of the game

Everything was fine until that impossible song showed up.

Every card you win builds a timeline that tells the story of music and the people around the table. A childhood anthem lands next to a song you found last week. Suddenly, being five years out feels deeply personal.

What you actually need

No board. No box hiding at the back of a cupboard.

Open Hearago, make your teams and choose the first DJ. The game keeps the scores and timelines. You keep the arguments.
